Having received her Juris Docterate from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1983, Betsy began establishing her reputation within Lynchburg, VA and the surrounding areas. In 1999, she began her private practice specializing in all aspects of family law including adoption.

Trained as a professional mediator and arbitrator, Betsy has served on many legal boards and panels including the Virginia State Bar Family Law Section Board of Governors and the 9th District Disciplinary Committee for three years. She has served as faculty on the Supreme Court’s Professionalism Course while contributing to the publication, Negotiating and Drafting Material Agreements, produced by the Virginia State Bar. She has had the opportunity to be part of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys along with being a founding member of the Family Law section of the Lynchburg Bar Association; where she served as Chair and Co-Chair during the production of, Cutting Edge Seminars, for continuing legal education.

Betsy’s altruism is evident in all that she does. From being a former professor at Central Virginia Community College, teaching Virginia Family Law for Paralegals, to serving on the Legal Aid Society’s pro bono task force where she has been awarded as a top contributor.
